Tim Chuey Weather:

The bite of Autumn weather gets us a week before the Autumnal Equinox next Thursday.

We have been under a blocking high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape covering the Pacific Northwest) that kept us under Easterly hot airflow. The ridge has weakened and  is moving away from us to be replaced by a cool trough of low pressure.  A frontal system is falling apart as it moves through and will increase moisture and cloud cover in the area. Another frontal system will move in by Sunday which should produce some showers.

Forecast for the Southern and lower Mid Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield and Albany-Corvallis: Mostly cloudy this AM, partly cloudy this afternoon and evening, mostly cloudy tonight, partly cloudy Saturday and Saturday evening, cloudy with a slight (20%) of rain late Saturday night and Sunday AM, a (40%) chance of showers Sunday afternoon, and evening, then partly cloudy with a (40%) chance of showers Sunday night – highs 70-76 lows 42-50. Partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers Monday AM, then just partly cloudy Monday afternoon through Thursday highs 76-82 lows 50-52. (seasonal averages high 77 low 47)

Because weather forecasting is a combination of science, intuition, and timing there can be no absolute guarantees that individual forecasts will be 100% accurate. Nature is in a constant state of flux and sudden unexpected weather events can happen.
