LINN COUNTY, Ore. — Linn County Search and Rescue found a missing hunter near Sweet Home Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office said Mark Wagner, 27, of Lebanon was reported missing Monday night by a member of his hunting party.

Wagner was dropped Monday evening on Moose Creek Road, 20 miles east of Sweet Home.

He was supposed to rejoin his group after hunting a ridge for about a half mile, but he never returned.

Search and Rescue team members and other agencies looked for Wagner overnight and found him around 1 p.m. the next day.

Wagner said he got turned around in the dark and hiked down a different ridge than he expected.

He did not have food or water with him, but he was able to start a fire to keep warm.

The sheriff’s office says hunters should have overnight supplies with them, tell someone where they’re going and avoid hunting alone.
