Businesses around the Occupy Eugene campsite near the Washington-Jefferson Bridge say they’re losing customers.
Subway is right across the street from the camp.
The store manager says protesters come in for water refills and order sandwiches but don’t pay for them.
That’s not the only way the sandwich shop is losing money.
“Our regulars drive up into the parking lot, and then drive away because they were there across the street. We have had people come in wanting to use the bathrooms, cussing us out because they weren’t paying customers, or harassing the people that are here at night,” said Subway manager Shannon Patten.
The 7-Eleven across the street from the camp says it’s seen more people coming in.
Occupy Eugene says its campers do frequent the eateries for food and water.
