Tim Chuey Weather:

Fog, freezing fog, and frost when will it end? It looks like we will at the least see clouds and temperatures a bit warmer with a slight chance of showers over the weekend.

High: 43
Low: 25
Rain: fog

Advisories: A DENSE FOG ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON TODAY FOR THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN WILLAMETTE VALLEY. AN AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM FRIDAY FOR THE ENTIRE I-5 CORRIDOR FROM PORTLAND SOUTH THROUGH EUGENE.

A high pressure ridge (“Arch” shape on the jet stream) is keeping us cold with some sunshine, as long as the fog clears. So, for the rest of the work week we’ll see at least some sunshine after the late night and early AM fog and/or freezing fog clear out. That also means that our air quality is suffering with the sinking air of high pressure holding on to the pollutants at the surface. The ridge will slide over then past us allowing more clouds and maybe a chance of precipitation returning next weekend as a cold front moves in from the northwest.

Forecast for the Southern and lower Mid Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield and Albany-Corvallis: Mostly cloudy with areas of dense (0.25 mi. visibility or less possible) fog this AM, mostly cloudy with patchy lingering fog this afternoon, mostly cloudy with areas of fog and freezing again late tonight and Thursday AM, a mix of clouds and sun with some lingering fog in the afternoon, partly cloudy in the evening, mostly cloudy with areas of fog and patchy freezing fog late Thursday night and Friday AM, a mix of clouds and sun in the afternoon, then mostly cloudy Friday night highs 40-43 lows 32-25 then warming to 29 Friday night. Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers Saturday through Sunday, mostly cloudy Sunday night, a mix of clouds and sun Monday, mostly cloudy Monday night, then a mix of clouds and sun with a slight (20%) chance of showers Tuesday highs 45-50 cooling to 44 Tuesday lows 30-32. (seasonal averages high 46 low 34)

Because weather forecasting is a combination of science, intuition, and timing there can be no absolute guarantees that individual forecasts will be 100% accurate. Nature is in a constant state of flux and sudden unexpected weather events can happen.
