House Fire Displaces Cottage Grove Resident

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — A house fire destroyed much of a Cottage Grove woman’s home early Tuesday morning. She and several of her pets, including exotic birds, had to be rescued from the house on the 200 block of Cherry Court.

South Lane County Fire and Rescue responded to the call around 1:00 am, and it took about 20 minutes to get the flames under control. Firefighters say the rear of the home was fully involved with flames and heavy smoke. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
