The Sheldon Irish (3-1) remain the No. 1 team in the OSAA 6A Rankings despite a 7-1 loss to Chaparral of Parker, Colorado today. The Irish seem to not know what a close game is with each of their four games being decidedly one-sided.

Sheldon opened the season with an 8-0 victory over Grants Pass on March 14th, a 15-3 blowout over Tualatin on the 15th, a 6-3 win over Crater on the 19th before their loss to  Chaparral today.

The Irish are one game into the Perfect Game Coach BOB National Invitational in Anthem, Ariz and will use the most of Spring Break with two more games. Sheldon will play Valley Vista of Surprise, Ariz tomorrow and Santa Barbara of Santa Barbara, Cali on Wednesday before returning to Eugene.

5A Baseball Rankings

In the 5A bracket, only one local team ranks in the top-10. Willamette (2-1) has an early edge over South Albany and Pleasant Hill with a lone loss to Crescent Valley.

Outside of the Wolverines, the Springfield Millers (3-5) and Marist Spartans (3-2) come in at 13th and 18th respectively. The Churchill Lancers (3-1) round up the top-20 at No. 20 through four games.

The season is still early and teams have a lot of games left to play. From 6A, the Irish and Thurston Colts each have high hopes after deep runs into the playoffs. From 5A, Willamette and North Eugene are each hoping to make a return to the playoffs.
