Oregon Ducks men’s golf took to the road once more this year and got a second-place prize at just their second meet of the year. The team score was led by sophomore Brandon McIver who carded a three-round score of 71-75-74 to finish tied for 12th place with a +4/220.

McIver started strong with the 71, which was tied for the third top finish in that first round, but had more trouble with the second round and carded a 75. The 74 wasn’t especially pretty, as three of the top five golfers finished that round with a 69, but it got the job done for the team round.

The Ducks finished 30 points behind Cal, but just two strokes ahead of third-place San Diego.

The Ducks sent one individual golfer in Zach Foushee who shined after a possibly disappointing first meet. The sophomore took a 71 first round and a 70 third round to overcome a 76 second round and tie for sixth place with a +1/217.

Thomas Lim improved from a 78 first round to tie for 19th with a +5/221. Jonathan Woo and Rak Cho both carded 10-over par and finished tied for 42nd. And Ryann Ree rounded out the Ducks team score, tying for 48th with just 11 over par.

Head coach Casey Martin’s comments afterward to GoDucks.com:

[gn_quote style=”1″]“It’s hard to say, we made more birdies today which overcame our mistakes, but we’re still making too many mistakes,” he said. “Having said that, a second place finish is a step in the right direction.”[/gn_quote]
