Former Oregon Ducks running back Jonathan Stewart, now with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers, has been cleared to play as soon as this weekend’s game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at 1 p.m. PST on FOX.

The news comes after Stewart participated in his first full practice of the season after suffering an ankle injury that has kept him out the last 11 months. In his return, teammates and coaches praised the bruising running back.

“He looked amazing,” fellow former Duck and teammate Kenjon Barner said. “That’s a big man moving and he was moving well.”

The Panthers are 4-3 on the season and on the outside hunt for a playoff spot. With nine games remaining, Stewart’s return could be just enough for the franchise to surge into contention with NFC South rival New Orleans.
