Air Cars on the Move

AIR CARSEUGENE, Ore. — About 45 students from three Springfield middle schools took part in the 14th annual Air Cars competition Wednesday morning at Thurston Middle School.

The students have been learning about Newton’s laws of motion. Then they were given a motor, wheels, and propeller and asked to design a mini-car for fastest speed.

“It gives you some hands-on engineering experience, and it teaches you more about science in a fun way,” said sixth grader Colton.

The Air Car Engineering Project and Competition is funded by EWEB for 6th graders in Springfield.
