EPD: Scammers Claim to Shut Off Power

Police-LightsEUGENE, Ore. — A warning from Eugene Police. They say scammers are calling people, claiming to be with EWEB.

The caller explains there’s a truck on the way to shut off power and then tries to get the person on the other end of the line to pay them directly. With out a payment, they say the power will be shut off.

Police say this is a scam. EWEB will always mail a notice and place one on the front door if they’re set to shut off the power.
