In this mornings headline updates, a fatal crash on Highway 126 past Beltline closed the highway for a good part of the day. It appears that an elderly adult female was westbound on Highway 126W near milepost 50. For an unconfirmed reason, her Toyota Prius traveled across the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound 1986 Toyota 4 Runner sport utility vehicle driven by an adult male.  The car’s elderly female driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was extricated by firefighters and transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend with serious injuries. He is in critical condition.

Fire crews responded to a house fire on Butte Road in Creswell around 2:45 yesterday.  It looks like the house was a total loss. Fire investigators were on the scene well into the evening.

Wednesday morning a 4.5 magnitude earthquake was felt off the Oregon Coast near Bandon. It was measured on the ocean floor approximately 6 miles deep, no effects onshore are anticipated.

In other news, the deadline to save Civic Stadium has been extended till December. Bohemia Mining Days kicks off today, yes the living history festival is still here.  If you haven’t been you should check it out.
