Salem OR – On August 9th the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Salem Police Department to investigate a disturbance that occurred at a Salem residence involving an off duty Salem Police Officer. Responding Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies found that Officer Brandon Hanes, 40 years old, had been in an altercation at the location. Deputies interviewed all parties and witnesses and then referred the case to the Marion County District Attorney.

On August 14th a warrant was issued for Mr. Hanes’s arrest for the charge of Harassment. That same date, Mr. Hanes was arrested, booked and later released from the Marion County Jail. Mr. Hanes’s next court date has been set for August 19, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex, 4000 Aumsville Hwy. Mr. Hanes has been placed on administrative leave by the Salem Police Department pending an internal investigation, which is standard in these types of matters.

The Sheriff’s Office will not be making any further comments regarding this case or its investigation. Any further questions will be referred to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office for comment.
