Traffic is not something what we usually discuss in the Eugene/Springfield area during the week, unless of course there is an accident that we can detour around. However Thursday there is a football game at Autzen Stadium with a 7:30pm Pacific Time Kickoff which will cause issues.

The problems will not just be for those coming in from around the State for the game, which will be the one-hundredth consecutive sellout at Autzen, but also for those in the Eugene/Springfield area who use the convenience of the Park and Ride service to get to and from the game. Some of regular ‘Saturday’ Lane Transit District services and routes will not be available on the Thursday schedule so you will want to plan ahead.

To make it easier a fares to those riding the bus to the game will be waived according to a press release from the University of Oregon. Areas where you can catch the bus will also differ slightly due to the weekday bus schedule in effect. Lane Transit District is bringing in additional buses to accommodate fans.

Park-and-ride locations for the Thursday night kickoff will be at Symantec, Valley River Center, the Eugene Fairgrounds, and Willamette Street(between 10th and 11th). The South Eugene and Thurston High School locations will not offer service to the game, as well as the locations at the Springfield Station and River Road. Riders who use these locations should make alternate arrangements.

As usual, the parking lot at Autzen Stadium will open four hours till from kickoff at 4:30pm, and shuttle services will begin at 3:30pm. The Eugene Police Department is planning on making Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in Eugene into the standard one-way gameday traffic configuration around 3:30pm according to the release.

The game on Thursday night marks the one-hundredth consecutive sellout at Autzen Stadium dating back to the 1999 season. Official kickoff time is set for 7:36p Pacific time.
