Burch's ShoesEUGENE, Ore. — A shoe store in Eugene is getting the holidays started off on the right foot.

Burch’s Shoe Store in Oakway Center won its company’s national contest this year, which means 100 pairs of shoes for those in need this winter at the Eugene Mission.

The bulk delivery arrived this week, from Naot in Israel, but the staff wanted to do more. Since Naot doesn’t make products for kids, they’re donating children’s shoes.

“Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks, giving back to your community and setting good examples for people like my children or people just your friends and family that area around you because if one person gives,” said Sarah Alvarado, store manager.

The kids will be custom fitted Wednesday and will get the gift-wrapped shoes on Thanksgiving Day.
