Two Earthquakes Strike West of Coos Bay Sunday

COOS BAY—Two earthquakes hit off the Oregon coast early Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Service.

A 5.4 magnitude quake was recorded 212 miles west of Coos Bay at 3:01 a.m. Nov. 23 at a depth of 6.3 miles. At 4:50 a.m. a second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 occurred 199 miles west of Coos Bay at a depth of 6.2 miles.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a tsunami warning after the two events.
