EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County Public Health says autopsy results in death of Lauren Jones, University of Oregon freshman student athlete who died unexpectedly in her dorm Tuesday, came back inconclusive.
Jones was a member of the school’s acrobatics and tumbling team. The athletic department is providing grief counseling for teammates.
While officials are awaiting autopsy results, they say it is possible that Jones could have died from meningococcemia, a bacterial infection.
Students on the UO campus say there are concerned about the death of a fellow student and are worried that she could have died from the bacterial infection.
“I feel like we are not taking this seriously because we don’t know how serious the matter actually is,” said Alondra Flores, a UO student.
