Scio – In an early showdown in the first week of PacWest Conference action, 4th ranked Scio ran through suspect tackling for four long touchdown runs early on, and then held on for a 42-20 win over visiting 3rd ranked Blanchet.

 

Anthony Johnson, left, and Dillion Robinson alternated making sweeps to the right and left, and breaking multiple tackles, for 78 and 71 yard touchdown romps in the first quarter, and followed that up with 55 and 31 yard arm tackle breaking cutback runs for 2 more second quarter scores to put the Loggers up 28-0 before the middle of the second period.

 

Nathan Yoder added another Scio score with just over a minute left before halftime, set up by consecutive runs for 17 and 13 yards by Johnson, before Blanchet finally rallied to get on the scoreboard 13 seconds before the break.

 

Freshman quarterback R.J. Veliz completed 15 and 16 yard passes on the drive, and capped the series with a sprint in from 3 yards out, making it 34-6.
