Police Share Tips to Avoid Holiday Package Theft

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The holidays are right around the corner and that means more online shopping and packages sent right to your door step.

Police said thieves could be keeping an eye on your house during the holidays.

Springfield Police officials said they see more theft around the holidays.

They usually have an increase in reports of items being stolen following Thanksgiving Day.

Police said if you are getting packages delivered, take precaution.

Police recommend to notify your neighbor, if you are getting something delivered so they can pick it up for you, or get it delivered to your employer.

They also add to sign for packages, so it is not left alone on your door step.

Last holiday season many residents fought back against thieves by installing home surveillance cameras.

Police also want to remind shoppers to lock their car doors while at a store and hide any valuable items your car.
