Recruits Get Hands-On Experience with Live Fire Training

EUGENE, Ore. — Firefighter Recruits got some hands-on training this weekend, putting out real fires in a classroom setting.

Lane Fire Authority and Santa Clara Fire Recruits did Live Fire Training on Sunday. It’s all part of a 12-week academy.

They put out car fires and learned how to shut-off utilities for building fires. Once the Recruits graduate, they become full-fledged volunteer firefighters.

Lane Fire Authority said they hold two academies a year, in the spring and in the fall.
