Park Blocks Pavilion Moving Forward; Saturday Lane County Farmers Market Temporarily Relocated

This winter, our team has been hard at work, completing the designs and preparing for the construction of the Park Blocks Pavilion and Plaza. With major work to begin soon, we want to tell you what to expect at the Park Blocks this Spring and Summer.

Demolition of the Butterfly Lot is set to begin on May 7 with major work to start on May 24. Construction of the pavilion and plaza will begin in August, immediately following the completion of the demolition, and will continue through the Summer and Fall of 2021. The pavilion is scheduled to open in February 2022.

Temporary Relocation of Saturday Lane County Farmers Market

Because of the demolition, starting in April, the Lane County Farmers Market will be temporarily moving from their usual Saturday location in front of the Butterfly Lot, along 8th Avenue, to 5th Avenue between Oak and High Street. The City will work with the Lane County Farmers Market and 5th Street Market staff to continue planning for this interim location. The Tuesday Farmers Market will remain in the Park Blocks throughout the construction. The Eugene Saturday Market will continue to hold their weekly market on the Park Blocks throughout the year.

The coming months will be an exciting time for downtown. Together, we will get to experience the rediscovery of Eugene’s northwest Park Block, the expansion of our public space and the creation of a permanent, year-round home for the Lane County Farmers Market.
