Ducks Ranked No. 2 in Final Region Poll

EUGENE, Ore. – In the final ITA Northwest Region rankings of the season, the Oregon men’s tennis team earned a No. 2 year-end ranking. The Ducks were also rewarded with the top spot in the doubles release and four top-15 singles rankings.

The Ducks finished the year with a 17-7 overall record and a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. This regional ranking comes on the heels of the team’s No. 31 spot in the final national release of the year, Oregon’s fourth top-35 finish in the past five years and highest since 2017.
 
Down the stretch, the Ducks registered a pair of top-30 victories with wins over No. 24 Stanford (April 16) and No. 26 Alabama (May 8) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele earned the No. 1 spot in the regional rankings. The UO pair ended their first season together with a 10-3 mark and were No. 38 in the year-end national rankings. Charlton and Vandecasteele posted three ranked wins during the season with two over top-25 opponents.
 
In the singles release, the Ducks had four players inside the top 15 with Emmanuel Coste leading the way at No. 3 in the Northwest region. Coste—the No. 93 year-end player in the country—was 12-7 during his senior season with four wins over top-100 opponents including a three-set win over No. 43 Edson Ortiz to clinch the Ducks’ NCAA first-round win.
 
Charlton checks in at No. 5 in the region after a 13-6 mark. His season was highlighted by a victory over No. 36 Arthur Fery in the Ducks’ win over Stanford (April 16). Charlton had another ranked win, beating No. 66 Patrick Kaukovalta of Alabama in the opening round of NCAA play.
 
Jesper Klöv-Nilsson and Quinn Vandecasteele were ranked No. 12 and 13, respectively, in the regional release. Klöv-Nilsson led the team with an 18-3 record in singles play, ending the season on a five-match winning streak.
 
Vandecasteele played primarily at the No. 3 spot in the lineup during his freshman year and tallied 13 wins along the way. He notched the first ranked win of his career with a straight-set victory over No. 57 Zhe Zhou (Alabama) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
