EUGENE, Ore. – Pairing success in the classroom and on the track, the Men of Oregon have been selected the National Scholar Team of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Individually, three-time national champion and The Bowerman finalist Cole Hocker was named the National Scholar Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

The two academic team awards are the first in program history for the UO men, and first indoor honor for the Pac-12 since Stanford was recognized in 2008. The Men of Oregon posted a 3.025 cumulative team GPA during the 2020-21 academic season.

The UO men won the 2021 NCAA Indoor team title with 79 points, the second-highest score in meet history. The Ducks then capped the outdoor season with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field.

Over the course of the two national meets, the Men of Oregon collected nine NCAA titles including six victories during the indoor meet. Hocker swept the mile and 3,000-meter titles at the NCAA Indoor Championships and won the 1500 meters in Eugene.

Individually, both the Men of Oregon had 11 All-Academic honors while the Women of Oregon racked up 13 All-Academic certificates. The UO women—3.263 cume GPA—also earned All-Academic team accolades.

Among qualifying criteria, student-athletes had to carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA while ranking in the top 96 in any championship event (indoor) or participated in any round of the NCAA Championships, preliminary site included (outdoor). Teams had to have at least a 3.0 collective GPA.
