  • A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT FOR DANGEROUS SNEAKER WAVES FROM THIS MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) is strengthening and will taking over with warmer and dry weather.  The graphics for days 1-3  show no frontal systems approaching the Pacific Coast. The graphics for days 3-7    Monday through Friday show the frontal system that be offshore then moving through the Pacific Northwest next Wednesday.

Note: The Vernal Equinox takes place next Tuesday March 19th at 8:06 pm to begin the season of Spring.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Areas of AM frost, sunny and warmer today, clear tonight,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Saturday, clear at night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Sunday afternoon, then clear Sunday night.
