At approximately 9:30 p.m. on January 27, Eugene Police officers responded to a crash at River Road and Beltline. Callers reported a Dodge Charger had crashed and the male driver, Garrett Mason Taylor, age 29,  had been intoxicated and left the scene. He was last seen walking northbound on River Road, possible near Hunsaker Road and River Road. Call details also included the man’s young child had been with him in the car and had been injured. 

Officers found the Charger damaged, and in the ditch parallel to the westbound Beltline onramp from River Road. They checked the area but did not find the driver. They learned the child had been picked up by his mother and his injuries did not require medical treatment. 

At around 1:15 a.m. on January 28, callers reported a man at Jackson’s convenience store/gas station, who matched the description provided by officers earlier when they were searching. Officers drove to the store, located Taylor, and conducted an investigation. Taylor was subsequently arrested and transported to Lane County Jail on charges including DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, and Fail to Perform Duties of Driver. Case 24-01285
