HEPPNER — One rural community 16 miles outside Heppner has banded together to fight wildfires before they start.
Inspired by strategies learned by several residents who attended classes on wildfire resiliency provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and the local fire departments, the rural community of Blake Ranch set its sights on becoming a Firewise USA Community.
