Today the Lane County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a possible homicide in the 9400 block of Hwy 126W. The caller, Marsha Quesnell advised she had killed her mother Mona Tittle. When deputies arrived Marsha cooperated and was taken into custody without incident. Mona was located by deputies deceased inside the residence.
Marsha was lodged at Lane County Adult Corrections this afternoon on the charge of murder.
This is an ongoing investigation at this time but there is no ongoing danger to the community.

Warrant Service (Photo) – 06/23/23
On June 20th, 2023, The Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) with assistance from the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) executed a search warrant in the 7400 block of Maple Creek in Westlake, Oregon. During the service of the search warrant deputies located and detained Chanh Nguyen on the property. A search of the property was conducted and over 2300 growing marijuana plants were located inside building on the property. There were several other growing rooms that had been recently harvested. Deputies believe that Nguyen typically grew approximately 5000 marijuana plants at a time. Deputies also located and seized more than $20,000 in US Currency and a 2023 Dodge TRX truck valued at more than $80,000 that were believed to be proceeds of Nguyens illegal drug trade. Evidence on the property indicates the operation has been in progress for at least two years. Nguyen had been previously arrested in the state of Washington for similar crimes. This property was not licensed through OLCC or OMMP to grow marijuana. It is believed that all the marijuana was shipped out of state and the investigation is ongoing. This operation used approximately 70,000 KWH hours of electricity per month. To put that in perspective the average home only uses approximately 1500-3000KWH per month.
LCSO was assisted on scene by Lane County Code Enforcement who found numerous violations to include:
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work without permits or inspections.
- Interior structural changes to existing agricultural buildings and single family dwelling without permits or inspections.
- Replacement of agricultural building without permits.
- Use of agricultural buildings for an unlawful purpose.
- Unsafe storage of hazardous materials, including CO2 tanks.
- Commercial marijuana growing in the Impacted Forestlands Zone without land use approval.
The State Watermaster also responded and found illegal water use occurring on the property and issued a notice of violation.
Nguyen was cited and released on marijuana related charges, money laundering charges are also being considered.
LCSO would like to thank the Florence Police Department, Lane County Public Works and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency for their assistance.
This operation was funded by a grant from the State of Oregon Criminal Justice Commission to mitigate large scale illegal marijuana operations.

LCSO CASE #23-3059 — Deputies Seeking Theft Suspects (Photo) – 06/23/23
Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies are attempting to identify three people believed to be associated with wire theft in the Veneta area earlier this month. The depicted suspects are believed to be responsible for breaking into a commercial business in the 88000blk of Central Rd. The suspects then cut and stole a large quantity of wire over the course of several days, causing upwards of several hundred thousands of dollars in damage.

Jail Levy Audit Presented to Lane County Sheriff and Board of County Commissioners (Photo) – 06/15/23
The results of an official audit of the Lane County Jail Levy funds during last fiscal year was presented to the Lane County Sheriff and the Board of County Commissioners, during their public meeting on Tuesday. As part of the original levy promise, an annual audit by an independent firm was conducted to ensure that the levy funds are being utilized as promised. Moss Adams LLP has asserted that:
- The levy funds are held in a separate fund; not comingled with any other county funds
- The County has continued to appropriate General Funds to fund jail services
- The Sheriff’s Office operated a minimum of 255 local adult jail beds during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022
The public safety levy, which was renewed last May by 79% of voters, continues the requirement of an annual audit by a third party, so voters will continue to receive this validation for the lifetime of the renewed levy.
Lane County Sheriff Cliff Harrold said, “We are very thankful that the community continues to trust us in providing this vital public safety service. This levy allows us to hold violent offenders accountable, as well as continue to maintain the increased mental health services provided to those in our custody. We will continue to spend these tax dollars as promised and strive to make Lane County a safer place for everyone who lives or visits here.”

LCSO Case #23-3027 — Shooting Suspect in custody after Shooting at Deputies (Photo) – 06/06/23
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office received information this morning that 34-year-old Jason Scott Page was at a residence in the Elmira area. Page is the suspect in the shooting that occurred on McDougal Ln. on 06/03/2023.
At approximately 10:06am deputies observed Page as a passenger in a vehicle leaving the involved residence. Deputies initiated a traffic stop at which time the vehicle pulled into a driveway in the 23000blk of W. Sheffler Rd. and came to a stop.
Page exited the vehicle and shot at deputies with a handgun. Deputies returned fire. No one was struck by the gunfire and Page fled on foot. Deputies caught him in a nearby yard and he was taken into custody.
No one was injured during this incident.
Page will be lodged at the Lane County Jail. His specific charges are still being determined.

LCSO CASE #23-2984 — Shooting Suspect Outstanding (Photo) – 06/05/23
Lane County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the suspect in a shooting that occurred on Saturday at a residence in the 3900blk of McDougal Ln. Deputies learned that during the course of a dispute at the location, 34-year-old Jason Scott Page shot the 35-year-old victim in the back. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
Page is described as a white male adult standing approximately 5’08” and weighing about 155lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has multiple tattoos on his chest, abdomen and left arm. The weapon in this incident has not been recovered and Page is considered armed and dangerous.
Page has active warrants for his arrest and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911 and not approach him.
Effective immediately: All evacuation levels as related to the Reuben Leigh Fire on 05/31/23 in the Fall Creek area have been lifted.
This includes the areas of Reuben Leigh Road, Forest Retreat Lane, Jasper-Lowell Road east of Unity Park, and the south side of Little Fall Creek Rd. from Jasper Road east to Lafon Ln.
Authorities are asking the public to be cautious of fire crews that may continue working and monitoring in the area.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents that while evacuation levels have been lifted, every resident in our county should have a plan and be prepared in the event an emergency shall arise. “Now is the time to make sure that you are prepared for an emergency”, says Lane County Sheriff Cliff Harrold. “You can never predict when an emergency is going to happen. Please take the time to make sure that you have a plan to take care of your family, your pets, and yourself in the event that the unexpected happens and you find yourself needing to evacuate.”

LCSO CASE #23-2879 — Domestic Assault Suspect Taken into Custody After Fleeing Police (Photo) – 05/31/23
On 05/29/2023 at about 11:45am the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a domestic violence suspect that may have been holding his victim against her will. Deputies received information that the suspect was believed to have strangled and assaulted the victim the night before. The suspect and victim were believed to be somewhere in the area in the victim’s white Toyota car.
Deputies were able to track the vehicle to a park in the Eugene area. Upon spotting deputies the suspect, 36-year-old Bradley Allen Evenson, fled the area in the vehicle and deputies lost sight of him. The vehicle was later spotted again in the area of Lorane. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy and Oregon State Police Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle at which time it fled again. A short pursuit ensued which ended when the involved vehicle crashed. The victim was found to be in the vehicle and the suspect was taken into custody.
Evenson was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including: Strangulation, Assault in the 4th Degree, Menacing, Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving, DUII, and Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are being considered.

LCSO CASE #23-2861 — Fatal Traffic Crash on Big Fall Creek Road (Photo) – 05/30/23
On 05/28/2023 at about 5:40pm, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Big Fall Creek Rd. near milepost 6. Responders arrived to find a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup down an embankment and lodged against a tree.
29-year-old Corey Michael Primmer had been riding in the bed of the pickup and was thrown from the vehicle during the crash. He was transported to an area hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the Silverado had been traveling westbound on Big Fall Creek Rd. when it drove off of the roadway. The cause for the vehicle leaving the roadway remains under investigation.

LCSO CASE #23-2883 — Woman Dies After Being Struck by Train near Junction City (Photo) – 05/30/23
Deputies responded to the report of a train vs. pedestrian crash near Junction City yesterday afternoon shortly prior to 4:30pm. Paramedics arrived on scene and determined the woman to be deceased.
Investigation reveals that a Union Pacific Railroad train was headed southbound when a woman was observed walking on the tracks. Train operators sounded audible alarms and attempted to perform an emergency stop of the train. The woman did not respond to the alarms and was struck by the train.
Investigators are still working to identify the woman. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1.
