At approximately 4:25 p.m. on September 26, a man walked into the Chase Bank, 2840 Willamette and committed a robbery using threats of a firearm. He fled the scene and Eugene Police personnel were alerted and flooded the area with patrol, detectives and Street Crimes Unit.   Financial Crimes Unit detectives had been working on a similar robbery from September 16, 2022, (EPD 22-14008 Columbia Bank 255 Coburg) and had developed a vehicle of interest.  

The vehicle description was aired to Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police. LCSO and OSP advised they located the vehicle and that it fled from them when a stop was attempted. The pursuit went southbound on I-5 towards Goshen. The suspect, later identified as Bryan Michael Makarowsky, age 34, of Eugene, was headed east on Hwy. 58 and was forcibly stopped near Dexter. He was safely taken into custody and charged with Robbery in the Second Degree from the incident occurring on September 16, and Robbery in the Second Degree from the incident on September 26.  Additional charges related to Oregon State Police were added for Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Suspended.
