At 12:18 a.m. on April 26, Eugene Police officers were dispatched to a report of a possible break in at Enterprise Rent a Car, 810 W. 6th Avenue. A customer was dropping off a car at the location and noticed a man was trying to pick a lock at the business. The customer called 911.

An officer arrived and found a man inside the location. When the suspect saw police, he ran different directions trying to get away, but was met by police officers each time. Eventually the man, later identified as John Carvin Scott, age 58, jumped a fence into W. 6th Aly and ran east. Two officers gave chase on foot, while advising Scott he was under arrest. An officer caught up to Scott at Madison and W. 6th Aly and along with a second officer, took him into custody.

Scott was charged with Escape from Custody and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and transported to Lane County Jail. Case 23-05983
