At 12:58 p.m. on April 26, multiple callers to 911 reported a vehicle crash involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian near 485 Hwy. 99 North. EPD’s Major Collision Investigation team responded to the scene. Preliminary information indicates the 43-year-old pedestrian ran across Hwy. 99N from the west side of the highway to the east. He was struck by the semi-truck with two empty, flat trailers. The truck was travelling north in the number two (right hand side) lane. The pedestrian was injured and pinned under the truck’s cab area. Eugene Springfield Fire also had responded to the scene and rescued him from under the truck and transported him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was restricted until around 5:50 p.m., when it was reopened to regular traffic. The semi’s driver remained on scene. The Coburg Police Department and ODOT responded to assist with a Commercial Motor Vehicle inspection. MCI’s investigation is continuing. Case 23-0595
