Lane baseball splits pair with Centralia

Lane Community College used a four-run third inning to key a 7-4 win over visiting Centralia on Sunday, but the Trailblazers took advantage of two Titans errors to score twice in the eighth for a 3-1 victory and a split of the nonconference twinbill.
Jimmy McDonald (3-for-4, two RBIs) and Colton Sakamoto (2-for-3, two RBIs) led Lane (6-6) in the opener.

The Lane men’s and women’s cross country programs have signed 16 runners to their latest class of athletes, according to associate head coach Abdullah Khawaja.
The women’s class includes Claire Ebert of Medford; Alexis Crowl of Lacey, Wash.; Jordyn Holland of South Eugene High; Daelyn Wild of Pleasant Hill High; Melody McGrath of Grants Pass High; Caroline Feig of Waldport High; and Desiree di Mellow of Ketchikan, Alaska.

Joe White named interim head coach of Lane Men’s Basketball

Lane has appointed Joe White as interim head men’s basketball coach.
White served as assistant men’s basketball coach at Lane during the 2017-18 season.  Previously, he served as assistant men’s basketball coach at Tacoma Community College from 2014-17.

VANCOUVER, WA — The 2018 Winter Sports Academic Excellence awards have been announced. Qualifications for recognition are to be a sophomore in eligibility, have a minimum of 36 credits earned, a 3.25 cumulative GPA and be recommended by the College.
 

Bruce Chavka steps down

EUGENE, Ore. – After 12 years at Lane Community College, Bruce Chavka has decided to step away from his role as head men’s basketball coach, effective immediately.

Lane rallies in ninth, then sweeps Bellevue

Tielar Murray scored on Hank Forrest’s sacrifice fly to center field with one out in the seventh inning as Lane rallied past Bellevue 2-1 in the opener of a baseball doubleheader Saturday, and two Titans pitchers combined on a five-inning no-hitter to win the second 13-1.

Lane sweeps baseball twinbill

Lane swept Bellevue in an NWAC baseball doubleheader on Friday at PK Park, winning 3-2 and 6-3.
Colton Sakamoto had two hits in the opener for the Titans, who scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the win.
In the nightcap, the Titans (3-5) scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-3 lead. Sakamoto, Thomas Rudinsky, Jayden Hanna and Cade Kissell all doubled for Lane.
 

Lane women fall at NWAC tourney

EVERETT, Wash. — The Lane offense picked a bad time to go cold Friday night.
The Titan women could muster just one field goal in the fourth quarter and fell to Walla Walla, 85-62, in the quarterfinals of the Northwest Athletic Conference tournament at Everett Community College.

Sarah Hall led the #3 ranked Titans in handing top-ranked Umpqua its first loss of the season, snapping the Riverhawks’ 28 game win streak last Wednesday in Eugene. McMINNVILLE — Lane’s Jacob McNamara and Damian Williams took the top two spots in the men’s 400 meters Saturday to highlight local efforts at Linfield’s Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker track and field meet.
McNamara won the 400 in 49.32 seconds and Williams was second in 50.18.
