  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS ABOVE 4,500 FT. FROM 8 PM TONIGHT UNTIL 11 AM SUNDAY FOR THE NORTHERN OREGON CASCADES AND THE CASCADES IN LANE COUNTY.
  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM TONIGHT UNTIL 11 AM SUNDAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM TODAY UNTIL 2 AM SUNDAY FOR THE KLAMATH BASIN, NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY, AND CENTRAL AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) offshore will be moving it to bring back the rain. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system moving through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7  Tuesday through Saturday show the frontal system that will move over the Pacific Northwest next Friday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with a good (50%) chance of AM rain, rain changing to showers with a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms and a bit cooler this afternoon and evening (0.25 in. of rain possible), showers likely (70%) late tonight (0.50 in. of rain possible) and breezy (Wind: SW 15-25 mph gusts to 35 mph decreasing and becoming W 10-15 mph gusts to 30 mph late tonight),
