ADVISORIES

  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM UNTIL 11 PM SATURDAY FOR THE KLAMATH BASIN, NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY, AND CENTRAL AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) offshore will be moving it to bring back the rain. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system moving through Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7  Monday through Friday show the frontal system that will move over the Pacific Northwest next Thursday.
  • NOTE: Looking ahead to the Memorial day weekend, so far there will be wet weather to contend with Saturday and Sunday then tapering off  but still questionable for Memorial Day itself on Monday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy and cooler with a good (50%) chance of showers today (under 0.10 in. of rain possible) and this evening, rain likely (70%) late tonight (0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with rain and a bit cooler Saturday and in the evening (0.50 in. of rain possible), showers late at night (0.50 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with showers and a bit cooler Sunday, evening showers likely (70%), then a good (50%) chance of showers late Sunday night.
