THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SPECIAL CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY THE YOUNGER ONES, WHEN THEY ARE NEAR THE WATER.

ONLY A FRACTION OF WATER BODIES IN OREGON ARE MONITORED FOR CYANOBACTERIA, BLOOMS AND TOXINS DURING THE RECREATION SEASON, AND NO MONITORING OR SAMPLING IS PERFORMED ONCE RECREATION SEASON HAS ENDED.
