PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • The strong Upper Level Airflow is helping to push cold fronts into the Pacific Northwest and sending an Atmospheric River to us bringing potentially very heavy rain. The graphics for days 1-3 show the warm sector of the frontal system that’s moving through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7  Tuesday through Saturday show frontal activity for the Pacific Northwest forming a parade of storms heading our way.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:
