  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR IN MORROW COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • The strong Upper Level Airflow is helping to push cold fronts into the Pacific Northwest and sending an Atmospheric River to us bringing potentially very heavy rain. The graphics for days 1-3 show the warm sector followed by the cold front that moved through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7  Tuesday through Saturday show frontal activity for the Pacific Northwest forming a parade of storms heading our way.
  • NOTE: IT’S TIME TO “FALL BACK” AND TURN OUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR AT BEDTIME TONIGHT. DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS AND STANDARD TIME BEGINS OFFICIALLY AT 2:00 AM SUNDAY. THE AUTHORITIES WANT YOU TO CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS, CO DETECTORS, AND RADON DETECTORS ARE WORKING. CHANGE BATTERIES OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE DETECTORS SO THAT YOU CAN BE WARNED WHEN NECESSARY.
