  • THE PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY ISSUED FOR UNSAFE LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT D RIVER BEACH IN LINCOLN COUNTY HAS BEEN LIFTED.
  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE  COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SPECIAL CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY THE YOUNGER ONES, WHEN THEY ARE NEAR THE WATER
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) that is to our Northwest is moving to the east. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system moving through Oregon. Another front will slide in between today and Thursday. The graphics for days 3-7   Saturday through Wednesday show the frontal system that pushed past the Pacific Northwest.
  • Note: if you are wondering where the haze is coming from you can blame wildfires in northern California and Southwestern Oregon.

  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler today, partly cloudy tonight,
  • Partly cloudy and a bit cooler Thursday, partly cloudy at night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Friday, then mostly clear Friday night.
  • highs 86-83 warming to 89 Friday lows 54-57.
  • Sunny and a bit warmer Saturday, clear Saturday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Sunday, mostly clear at night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Monday, mostly clear Monday night,
