A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON MONDAY UNTIL 11 PM TUESDAY FOR THE EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE OF OREGON, THE LOWER COLUMBIA BASIN OF OREGON, THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY, WALLOWA COUNTY, THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE JOHN DAY BASIN, THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, AND THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SUNDAY UNTIL 8 PM MONDAY FOR THE GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA, THE UPPER HOOD RIVER VALLEY, THE WESTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, AND THE CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE.

THE PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY ISSUED FOR UNSAFE LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT D RIVER BEACH IN LINCOLN COUNTY HAS BEEN LIFTED.
A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) that is to our Northwest is moving to the east as a very strong Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) spreads from the Southwest into the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show no frontal systems moving through or into Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7 Tuesday through Saturday show the frontal activity through next Saturday.
