  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE  COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) that is to our Northwest is moving to the east as a very strong Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) spreads from the Southwest into the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show no frontal systems moving through or into Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7    Tuesday through Saturday show the frontal activity through next Saturday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly clear tonight,
  • A mix of clouds and sun and hazy and Very Hot Sunday, partly cloudy and hazy in the evening, just partly cloudy late Sunday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Monday, mostly clear at night,
  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny Tuesday afternoon, then partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers late Tuesday night.
  • lows near 58 highs 97-88.
  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and a bit cooler Wednesday afternoon, mostly clear Wednesday night,
  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and a bit warmer Thursday, clear at night,
