  • A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR THE COQUILLE RIVER AT COQUILLE AFFECTING COOS COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

The Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) that’s been sitting along the coast still bringing rain chances was be replaced  by drying High Pressure today. The graphics for days 1-3 show the next warm front approaching the coast Tuesday and the cold front behind it Wednesday. The graphics for days 3-7   for Thursday through Monday show active weather systems headed our way through the period.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%)  chance of evening showers, a (40%) chance of showers late tonight (0.10 in. of rain possible),
  •  Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM rain, a (40%) chance of rain and a bit cooler Tuesday afternoon (under 0.10 in. of rain possible), cloudy with a good (50%) chance of evening rain, rain late Tuesday night (0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with AM rain, showers likely (70%) Wednesday afternoon and evening (0.50 in. of rain possible), a good (50%) chance of showers late at night (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM showers, a  mix of clouds and sun Thursday afternoon, then becoming partly cloudy Thursday night.
