  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY UNTIL 4 AM THURSDAY FOR  THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TODAY UNTIL 1 PM THURSDAY FOR BAKER COUNTY, MALHEUR COUNTY, AND THE OREGON LOWER TREASURE VALLEY.
  • A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS MORNING FOR THE COQUILLE RIVER AT COQUILLE AFFECTING COOS COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

A new Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) increases rain chances. The graphics for days 1-3 show the next frontal system moving through the Pacific Northwest Wednesday. The graphics for days 3-7   for Saturday through Wednesday show active weather systems headed our way through the period.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with AM rain, a good (50%) of showers and a bit cooler this afternoon (0.25 in. of rain possible) and evening, a slight (20%) chance of showers late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • A  mix of clouds and sun Thursday, partly cloudy at night,
  • Partly cloudy Friday and in the evening, then mostly cloudy late Friday night.
