  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM TONIGHT ABOVE 4,000 FT. FOR THE EAST SLOPES OF THE OREGON CASCADES.
  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM THURSDAY FOR  THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM THURSDAY FOR THE OREGON LOWER TREASURE VALLEY.LLE RIVER AT COQUILLE AFFECTING COOS COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) approaches the coast and decreases the rain chances. The graphics for days 1-3 show the cold front that moved through the Pacific Northwest today. The graphics for days 3-7   for Saturday through Wednesday show active weather systems headed our way through the period.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Partly cloudy with a good (50%) of evening showers, mostly cloudy with patchy fog late tonight (0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Patchy AM and late night fog,  partly cloudy and a bit cooler Thursday afternoon and Thursday night,
  • Partly cloudy Friday and in the evening, mostly cloudy late at night,
  • AM clouds and sun with patchy fog and a slight (20%) chance of showers, a mix of clouds and sun with a slight (20%) chance of showers and a bit warmer Saturday afternoon, mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of evening showers, just mostly cloudy late Saturday night.
