  • A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING FOR DANGEROUS SNEAKER WAVES FOR THE SOUTH OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) Strengthens keeping us dry with colder nights. The graphics for days 1-3 show no fronts moving through the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7   for Thursday through Monday show no active weather systems headed our way until next Sunday and Monday as a cold front tries to move southward toward Oregon.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • A mix of clouds and sun with patchy AM fog, mostly sunny and a bit cooler this afternoon, partly cloudy this evening, mostly cloudy with patchy dense fog late tonight,
  • Partly cloudy and a bit warmer Tuesday, partly cloudy in the evening, mostly cloudy late Tuesday night,
  • Mostly cloudy start, partly cloudy and a bit warmer Wednesday afternoon, then partly cloudy Wednesday night.
  • highs 45-48 lows 28-32.
  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and a bit warmer Thursday afternoon, partly cloudy Thursday night,
