  • A FROST ADVISORY IS IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM TODAY FOR THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch “shape) moves in bringing sunshine and keeping overnight temperatures in the 20s. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system offshore today and moving in. The graphics for days 3-7 show more complex frontal activity moving our way Sunday through next Thursday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy and slightly warmer with possible sun breaks today, mostly cloudy this evening, partly cloudy with patchy fog late tonight,
  • Some AM clouds, sunny and a bit warmer Friday afternoon, partly cloudy in the evening, mostly cloudy late at night,
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler Saturday, then mostly cloudy Saturday night.
  • highs 47-52 cooling to 48 Saturday lows 27-32.
  • Mostly cloudy with a (40%) chance of rain and a bit warmer Sunday afternoon, a good (50%) chance of rain Sunday night,
