  • THE PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY ISSUED FOR UNSAFE LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT D RIVER BEACH IN LINCOLN COUNTY HAS BEEN LIFTED.
  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE  COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SPECIAL CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN WITH CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY THE YOUNGER ONES, WHEN THEY ARE NEAR THE WATER
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • The Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) takes over bringing more sunshine and warmer temperatures The graphics for days 1-3 show a  weak cold front just to our northwest today and Wednesday. The graphics for days 3-7   Friday through Tuesday show no frontal activity for the Pacific Northwest through the period with a cold front going stationary to our north.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Clear tonight,
  • Some AM clouds, sunny and a bit cooler Wednesday afternoon, clear Wednesday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Thursday, clear in the evening, partly cloudy late at night,
  • Some AM clouds, sunny and a bit cooler Friday afternoon, then clear Friday night.
  • lows 55-53 highs 88-82.
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Saturday and Sunday, clear both nights,
  • Then sunny and a bit warmer Monday and Tuesday, clear Monday night.
