  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY UNTIL 10 PM SUNDAY FOR THE COAST RANGE OF NORTHWEST OREGON, THE CENTRAL COAST RANGE OF WESTERN OREGON, THE CENTRAL WILLAMETTE VALLEY, THE SOUTH WILLAMETTE VALLEY, THE NORTHERN OREGON CASCADE FOOTHILLS, AND THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS IN LANE COUNTY.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY UNTIL 10 PM MONDAY FOR THE LOWER COLUMBIA, THE GREATER PORTLAND METRO AREA, THE UPPER HOOD RIVER VALLEY, THE WESTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, AND THE CENTRAL COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM SATURDAY UNTIL 11 PM SUNDAY FOR EASTERN CURRY COUNTY AND JOSEPHINE COUNTY, AND JACKSON COUNTY.
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) brought sunshine and warmer temperatures just in time as Summer began, but a weak cold front passed and we’re seeing a brief cool down. The graphics for days 1-3 show no frontal systems over or approaching Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7   Monday through Friday show a cold front moving into the Pacific Northwest next Monday night into Tuesday.
