  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM TODAY FOR THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM UNTIL 7 PM TODAY FOR NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY  AND WESTERN, CENTRAL, AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY, INCLUDING THE HIGH TERRAIN IN KLAMATH AND LAKE COUNTIES
  • A HIGH WIND WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM TODAY FOR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH NEXT THURSDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE COQUILLE RIVER AT COQUILLE AFFECTING THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) is keeping the Pacific Northwest dry.  The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal system approaching the coast Saturday then moving in by Sunday. The graphics for days 3-7    Tuesday through Saturday show increasing frontal activity through the period.

NOTE: Daylight Saving Time officially begins at 2 AM this Sunday March 10th. Don’t forget to SPRING AHEAD” at bedtime tonight by setting your clocks ahead by one hour. The authorities recommend that everyone check home Smoke Detectors, CO Detectors, and RADON Detectors to make sure they are in working order. Depending on the type you have and how old they are you can replace bad batteries or replace the whole Detector.
