NORTH POWDER — Peter Johnson, president and general manager of the Anthony Lakes Outdoor Recreation Association, is proposing that Baker County commissioners increase the local lodging tax from 7% to 9%.

Johnson said the increase could boost revenue for promoting the county’s tourism industry by an estimated $233,000 per year.
