ATHENA — State and local representatives gathered in Athena to learn about the details of the possible loss of a longstanding affordable housing complex, and discovered the basic misunderstanding is because they were on different pages — literally.
The Umatilla County Housing Authority, which manages the property, has been using a different floodplain map than what other people had. Although getting on the same map might not solve the problem, it is a first step in finding a solution, said Sen. Bill Hansell, R-Athena, who organized the Friday, April 5, meeting.
