Australian Stewart McSweyn is the front-runner for the men’s 1,500 after the preliminary heats on Saturday afternoon at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
McSweyn finished with a time of three minutes and 34.91 seconds to take the top spot headed into the semifinals. Canadian Charles Philibert-Thiboutot was second in 3:35.02.
