At approximately 7:30 a.m. today, the Eugene Police Department was notified of an unattended child on the sidewalk near W. 18th Avenue and Polk Street. Officers responded and first ensured the child was safe, then began searching for the parents. The child is approximately two years old and still learning to speak. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and surrounding businesses with a photograph of the child, attempting to contact a parent or caretaker. There has been no communication from the parent of guardians of the child.
