MISSION — The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is receiving more than $900,000 in a federal grant to update and overhaul its recycling plan.

The funding if through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling, or SWIFR, grants. The $915,895 to CTUIR is around 2.6% of the $34.87 million in grants for Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Nationwide, EPA allocated $275 million for SWIFR grants to support recycling innovations.
